Ground On All Components

Overview

Ground On All grounds all components in the active edit document. This is useful during large edits when you want to prevent parts from shifting while you make multiple changes and resolve constraints.

In systems connected end-to-end (for example, duct runs), changing one component can affect downstream part positions. Grounding everything temporarily can keep branches and adjacent fittings stable until all updates are complete.

How It Works

  1. The command finds all component occurrences in the active edit document.
  2. Each occurrence is grounded.
  3. Grounded components are visually identified using the configured Ground Color (if applicable).

Usage Instructions

  1. Open your assembly in Inventor (and activate the target edit level if working in a subassembly).
  2. Click Ground On All in the Placement panel.
  3. Verify components are grounded and visually identified.

Tips and Troubleshooting

  • Some components are not grounded: Verify they are editable at the current edit level, and not locked/suppressed.
  • Color not applied: Check for conflicts with other appearance overrides and confirm Ground Color is configured.

Examples

  1. Ground all parts before editing: Prevent movement while making changes across the assembly.
  2. Maintain stable branches: Ground everything while adjusting a key component in a connected system.
